The combined costs of the companies in the Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply industry reached BGN 17,636,101,000 in 2018, up by 3.38% year-on-year.
The industry's total revenue makes up 18.22% to the country's Gross domestic product (GDP) in 2018, compared to 18.32% for 2017 and 17.92% in 2016.
A total of 31,218 people were employed in the Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply industry in 2018, compared to 32,358 in 2017 and 35,759 in 2016.
Most of the companies in the industry are based in Sofia, followed by Plovdiv and Varna.
