Telecommunications Sector - Bosnia and Herzegovina (2014)

In 2013 Bosnia and Herzegovina's telecommunications industry registered revenue of BAM 1.4 bln, or 5.52% of the country's GDP.

Bosnia's telecommunications market is dominated by three companies - state-owned BH Telecom d.d. Sarajevo, Hrvatske Telekomunikacije d.d. Mostar and Telekom Srpske a.d.Banja Luka. The three companies are the only providers of mobile telephony in the country. They also operate on the fixed line telephony and on the Internet services markets along with another 14 alternative operators and 72 Internet Services Providers.

The average mobile telephony penetration rate in Bosnia and Herzegovina marked a stable growth in the period 2004-2013, reaching 90.8% in 2013 versus 36.6% in 2004. It still lags behind the average penetration
rate of 117.4% in SEE and 126.9% in the EU.

In 2013 the country's total revenue from telecommunications services remained flat on the year to EUR 715.8 mln.
