The industry's net profit amounted to BGN 436,154,000 in 2016. The industry's total revenue was BGN 16,616,139,000 in 2016, down by 4.15% compared to the previous year. The combined costs of the companies in the Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply industry reached BGN 16,105,320,000 in 2016, down by 5.05% year-on-year.
The industry's total revenue makes up 19.8% to the country's Gross domestic product (GDP) in 2016, compared
to 21.47% for 2015 and 21.71% in 2014.
A total of 35,759 people were employed in the Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply industry in 2016, compared to 38,760 in 2015 and 35,711 in 2014. Most of the companies in the industry are based in Sofia, followed by Plovdiv and Burgas.
