Donation to St. Kliment Ohridski high school honors the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius of Slavic literature and the Bulgarian alphabet, education, and culture

Bulgaria, May 19, 2022 - In recognition of the day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, of Slavic literature and the Bulgarian alphabet, education and culture, on May 24, Acronis is proud to donate 100 books to a Bulgarian school, the “St. Kliment Ohridski” high school in Sukhindol. As a result, this is the second donation of 100 books for a Bulgarian school, with the company aiming to turn this practice into a yearly tradition.

The 100 book titles were chosen by the students and the school management for the educational purposes of the school program. This donation will benefit more than 135 students.

“Education is what prepares us for the trials of life: it gives us the strength of knowledge, skills for professional activities, experience in communicating with people and institutions, and lays the foundation for future creative and career development. If education is the way to the future, then the book is the bright window to it. With the ‘100 Books’ initiative, Acronis shows that kindness and generosity are the most valuable currency in our insecure world,” said Svetlana Ivanova, Director at St. Kliment Ohridski.

Acronis sees the world’s woes as largely being the result of insufficient knowledge. The company emphasizes the importance of making knowledge more readily available for all to better tackle present-day challenges, as well as using the value of education as a tool for changing one’s life or escaping a difficult situation.

“Reading books helps children better understand the world around them. It lets them build up their moral values,” said Plamen Toshеv, Managing Director, Acronis Bulgaria. “Even in the digital era, reading paper books is still important to support a child’s imagination, creativeness, ability to solve problems and self-respect. That is why we’re donating 100 books to a school for the second time and we hope to keep this tradition in the years following”.

Sukhindol is a small Bulgarian town in the North-central part of Bulgaria, home to some 2400 inhabitants. The “St. Kliment Ohridski”
high school has 150 years of history and cherished traditions. The mission of the school is to help students succeed, develop, earn, learn and grow.

Tanya Cherneva, Senior teacher of Fine Arts, Information technologies, Technology, Entrepreneurship and Technical Drawing at St. Kliment Ohridski High School, recently won an award in the Bulgarian Association of Information Technology "Digital Innovators in Education" competition. Ms. Cherneva impressed the jury with her dedication, professionalism, responsiveness and support for students, parents and colleagues.
