BELGRADE (Serbia), May 6 (SeeNews) – Zijin Bor Copper, the Serbian unit of China's Zijin Mining Group, has invested $18 million (16.7 million euro) in buying machinery in the first quarter of 2020, it said.
The company has acquired 35 Tonly trucks for a total of $5 million, as 15 of them have already been delivered to the Novo Cerovo open-pit mine, Zijin Bor Copper said in the latest edition of its corporate newsletter Kolektiv.
Zijin Bor Copper has also acquired four excavators, three drills, three crushers, loaders and bulldozers, and invested $2.2 million in the acquisition of equipment for the Majdanpek flotation plant, the company said.
The Chinese group injected $350 million in the capital of Serbian copper mining and smelting company RTB Bor in December 2018, acquiring majority ownership, and renamed it to Zijin Bor Copper.
In April, Serbian energy minister Aleksandar Antic said Zijin Bor Copper plans to invest $800 million in the expansion of its production capacity in 2020 and 2021.
