April 12 (SeeNews) - Zijin Bor Copper, the Serbian unit of China's Zijin Mining Group, set a new monthly record for copper concentrate production in March, it said.
"For the first time since Zijin's arrival, over 5,000 tonnes of concentrate copper were produced in a month, more precisely 5,188 tonnes," general director Jian Ximing said on Sunday, according to a statement by Zijin Bor Copper.
A total of 2,016 tonnes of copper concentrate were produced at the Veliki Krivelj mine in March, while the Majdanpek and Novo Cerovo mines contributed 1,823 tonnes and 1,003 tonnes, respectively, Zijin Bor Copper said.
In the first quarter of 2021, Zijin Bor Copper produced 5.2 million tonnes of ore and 15,082 tonnes of copper concentrate, the company added.
The Chinese group injected $350 million (294 million euro) in the capital of Serbian copper mining and smelting company RTB Bor in December 2018, acquiring majority ownership, and renamed it to Zijin Bor Copper.
Last month, Zijin Bor Copper said it plans to invest $408 million in the Bor mining complex in 2021, up from $360 million last year, it said.
