March 28 (SeeNews) - Serbian state-owned railways operator Zeleznice Srbije said on Wednesday it has signed an agreement with the Russian Railways on the implementation of projects for the upgrade of existing and the construction of new railway infrastructure in the Balkan country.
The plans include the construction of a 68 kilometer track between Valjevo and Loznica and a 16 kilometer second track along the Belgrade-Pancevo route, an upgrade of the 200 kilometer Belgrade-Bar railroad and the rehabilitation of six sections of transport Corridor X with a combined length of 111 kilometers, Zeleznice Srbije director general Milovan Markovic said in a company statement.
The implementation of the planned projects should start by the end of the year after the details of the relevant inter-state lending arrangements are settled at government level.
