ZAGREB (Croatia), October 7 (SeeNews) – The Zagreb County Court on Wednesday declared not guilty the founder of ailing concern Agrokor, Ivica Todoric, and three other individuals on charges of embezzling 1.25 million euro ($1.47 million), local media reported.
The judge on the case said that it has not been proven that Todoric and former Agrokor managers Ante Huljev and Piruska Canjuga, together with Nicole de Rossi, had committed the criminal offences stated in the indictment, state radio and TV broadcaster HRT reported.
Todoric is facing several other court proceedings, as he is accussed of mismanagement of Agrokor funds and documents counterfeiting.
He was detained in London in November 2017 on a European arrest warrant.
The former owner of Agrokor, along with his sons Ivan and Ante, and 12 managers and auditors of Agrokor, are suspected of diverting about 1 billion kuna from Agrokor. Todoric has denied the charges.
In the meantime, the business operations of troubled food-to-retail concern Agrokor were transferred to the newly formed Fortenova Group in April 2019 under a settlement agreement with Agrokor's creditors endorsed by a Zagreb court in June 2018.
