September 24 (SeeNews) - Romania has signed a 500 million euro ($549 million) loan agreement with the World Bank to improve access to medical services, the government said.
"It is a programme that will benefit patients, as it will increase the funding for family and community medicine, by equipping medical halls, as well as by training medical staff in primary medicine," prime minister Viorica Dancila said, as quoted in a government press release issued on Monday evening. Dancila and members of her cabinet are on an official visit to the United States.
The agreement was signed by Romanian finance minister Eugen Teodorovici and the World Bank country manager for Romania and Hungary, Tatiana Proskuryakova, in New York.
The loan was negotiated by the World Bank and the Romanian finance ministry within the framework of the 2019-2023 Country Strategic Partnership.
