June 7 (SeeNews) - The World Bank sees Albania's gross domestic product (GDP) rising by 2.8% in 2023, it said, improving its projection made in January by 0.6 percentage points.
Albania's economic growth is projected to speed up to 3.3% in 2024 and maintain the same level in 2025, the global lender said in its June 2023 Global Economic Prospect published on Wednesday.
"In the Western Balkans, growth is forecast to decelerate to 2.6 percent in 2023, reflecting spillovers from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, lower private consumption, tight global financial conditions, and weaker growth of demand from the euro area,", the World Bank said.
A sharper than expected euro area slowdown could heavily impact external demand in the Western Balkans, as their export dependency on the euro area makes them more vulnerable, the report reads.
