PODGORICA (Montenegro), September 7 (SeeNews) – The World Bank praised the fiscal consolidation measures taken by Montenegro's government to strengthen the country's economic stability, the finance ministry said.
The World Bank plans to keep backing the efforts of the Montenegrin government to encourage economic growth through financial support and technical cooperation, the ministry quoted the recently appointed head of the office of the bank for Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro, Emanuel Salinas, as saying in a statement on Wednesday.
The team of World Bank experts has significantly contributed to accelerating the reform in Montenegro and the country is open to enhancing its cooperation with the bank, Montenegrin finance minister Darko Radunovic said during a meeting with Salinas.
The two sides reiterated their readiness to implement the agreed solutions and maintain creative environment for cooperation, the ministry said.
The World Bank said in June it lowered its projection for Montenegro’s economic growth in 2017 to 3.3%, from 3.6% projected in January. The forecast for Montenegro’s economic growth in 2018 was affirmed at 3.0%, the World Bank said in its June 2017 Global Economic Prospects report.
