May 21 (SeeNews) - The World Bank has approved financing of 46 million euro ($50.6 million) for Kosovo to prevent, detect and respond to the coronavirus crisis, the country's finance ministry said on Thursday.
With the funds, Kosovo will procure medical equipment, as well as increase its coronavirus testing capacity and expand the capacities of the infectious diseases clinic, the finance ministry said in a statement.
Part of the funding will be used to support social assistance schemes and households within the country's emergency fiscal package aimed at helping firms and individuals hit by the outbreak.
As of Thursday, Kosovo has confirmed 1,003 coronavirus cases and as reported 29 deaths.
