June 24 (SeeNews) - Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air said that it will reopen its Chisinau base in Moldova on September 5 with three Airbus A320 aircraft.
The air carrier will resume all its 16 flights from Chisinau and will increase frequencies of three existing routes to Bologna, Bergamo and London Luton, it said in a press release on Thursday.
"We support the efforts of the airlines to resume flights operated to and from Chisinau International Airport, especially in the context of the effects of the pandemic, but also of the war in the region," Chisinau Airport operator Avia Invest's deputy director Arcadie Ciochina said.
Wizz Air temporarily moved its Chisinau base on the Iasi International Airport in eastern Romania after Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, according to local media.
Wizz Air started operations from Chisinau International Airport in 2014 and established a base here in 2016.
Moldova partially reopened its airspace on March 21, after closing it due to the Russia-Ukraine war.
