August 6 (SeeNews) - Hungarian low-cost air carrier Wizz Air will launch a route from Romania's southern city of Craiova to Belgium's Brussels on December 15, the company said on Monday.
The new service will be operated twice a week - on Tuesdays and Saturdays, Wizz Air said in a press release.
In the first seven months of 2018, Wizz transported over 4.5 million passengers on its low-priced routes in Romania, 13% more compared with the same period of the previous year, and over 260,000 passengers to and from Craiova.
In the first half of the year, Wizz Air reached an important indicator in Craiova, exceeding 1 million passengers since the start of operations.
In July, Wizz Air said said it iis launching new routes from Liverpool to three Romanian cities at the end of October. The flights to Bucharest, Cluj and Iasi will be operated from the John Lennon Airport in Liverpool.
Wizz now offers 144 routes to 22 countries from 10 airports in Romania, supporting more than 5,300 local jobs in the aviation, transport, hotel and tourism industries. For 2019, Wizz Air will put up for sale 9.4 million seats for flights to and from Romania, up by 8% compared to last year.
Wizz Air is operating in Romania with a young fleet of 25 aircraft including 5 new 230-seat Airbus A321.
