August 31 (SeeNews) - Hungarian low-cost air carrier Wizz Air is planning to invest $100 million (89.8 million euro) in the expansion of its operations in Serbia, as it will launch four new lines and add an aircraft to its base in Belgrade, a senior company official said on Wednesday.
Wizz Air will add an Airbus A320 to its base in Belgrade, opening 36 jobs, the company’s CTO Jozef Varadi told a news conference.
As of May 2017, Wizz Air will also introduce four new lines from Belgrade - to Friedrichshafen, Hanover and Nuremberg in Germany and to Malta.
Following the launch of the new flights, Wizz Air will fly from Serbia to 20 destinations in seven countries.
Apart from Belgrade, Wizz Air services flights to the city of Nis, in the east of Serbia.
Varadi noted that demand for flights from the Constantine the Great Airport in Nis had exceeded expectations.
