SARAJEVO (Bosnia and Herzegovina), July 25 (SeeNews) – Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air plans to increase its presence in the countries of the former Yugoslavia by introducing additional flights to Macedonia's Skopje and Montenegro's Podgorica, as well as a new service to Bosnia's Mostar, according to media reports.
Wizz Air currently serves every country in the region, but their presence remains limited in some countries compared to other low costs airlines, news portal EX-YU Aviation quoted the airline's chief commercial officer, Owain Jones, as saying on Monday.
Jones noted that the airline is having trouble in Croatia where demand and costs are an issue. In Macedonia, however, Wizz Air plans to utilise its 230-seat Airbus A321 aircraft on two out of three weekly flights to increase capacity by 20% a week.
In Bosnia, the airline is in talks with Mostar Airport over the introduction of flights from Sweden, which could potentially launch as early as this winter.
Wizz Air currently has a base in Bosnia's Tuzla. For 2017, it announced the launch of six new routes from Bosnia to four countries. The company handled some 310,000 passengers from and to Tuzla in 2016, supporting around 230 local jobs.
