December 4 (SeeNews) - Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air said on Wednesday it plans to allocate a new aircraft to its base in Bucharest, Romania and to launch two new routes, to Prague and Seville, in July 2020.
A new Airbus A321 aircraft will be allocated to Wizz Air's Bucharest base in July, the company said in a press release.
The new aircraft will take the total number of aircraft in the Bucharest base to 13, while the total number of Wizz Air aircraft in Romania will reach 30. The number of employees will rise to 1,100.
Flights to Prague in the Czech Republic will be launched on July 1, while flights to Seville in Spain will start on July 4.
"Seville is a completely new destination for Wizz Air and we are launching it from Bucharest starting July 2020 together with Prague, which we know is already a highly appreciated destination by Romanian tourists," Wizz Air corporate communications manager Paulina Gosk said.
In 2018, Wizz carried more than 8.3 million passengers on its low fare routes to and from Romania, which represents a 14% growth year on year.
Wizz Air now offers 148 routes to 20 countries from 10 airports in Romania.
