January 21 (SeeNews) - Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air will allocate a third aircraft to its Timisoara base in Romania and will launch four new routes from the city this year, it said.
Wizz Air will bring the new Airbus A320 aircraft - an investment of $100 million (87.8 million euro) to the Timisoara base in September, the company said in statement last week.
Also in September, Wizz will launch four new routes from Timisoara - to Billund in Denmark, to Nuremberg and Karlsruhe in Germany and to Doncaster/Sheffield in the UK.
Also, some of the most popular services from Timisoara - to Bari, Brussels Charleroi, Dortmund, Memmingen and London will have increased weekly frequencies.
Wizz Air started operations from Timisoara Airport in 2018. In 2018, Wizz Air transported over 730,000 passengers to and from Timisoara.
In 2018, Wizz Air transported over 8.3 million passengers to and from Romania, up 14% compared to 2017.
Wizz now offers 145 routes to 22 countries from 10 airports in Romania, supporting more than 5,300 local jobs in the aviation, transport, hotel and tourism industries.
Wizz Air is operating in Romania with a young fleet of 27 aircraft including 5 new 230-seat Airbus A321.
