BUCHAREST (Romania), January 5 (SeeNews) - Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air said on Thursday it carried some 5.5 million passengers to and from Romania in 2016, up 23% on the year.

"Our ultra low-cost model is very effective and will enable us to continue our significant growth and to constantly expand our network to better serve passengers," Wizz Air CEO József Váradi said in a press release.

For this year, the operator has already announced the addition of new aircraft bases in Cluj-Napoca and Craiova and the initiation of 15 new routes to and from Romania.
