SOFIA (Bulgaria), July 21 (SeeNews) – Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air said on Friday it has opened its second base in Bulgaria, in the coastal city of Varna.
Wizz Air will base an Airbus A320 aircraft at Varna Airport, launching six new routes from the city to Dortmund and Munich Memmingen in Germany, Eindhoven in the Netherlands, Larnaca in Cyprus, Milan Bergamo in Italy and Tel Aviv in Israel.
Wizz Air currently offers two more routes from Varna – to London Luton and a domestic flight to Sofia.
In 2017, Wizz Air will have over 333,000 seats on sale on its Varna routes, representing a 218% growth year over year. Also in 2017, the company will have eight aircraft based in Bulgaria - seven in Sofia and one in Varna - employing over 300.
Wizz Air offers more than 40 routes from its three Bulgarian airports - 33 from Sofia, 8 from Varna and 4 from Burgas, also on the Black Sea coast.
