December 23 (SeeNews) - Low-cost carrier Wizz Air said on Friday it is adding a seventh aircraft to its fleet in Bulgarian capital Sofia and launching two new routes from the city.
The new aircraft represents an investment of $98 million (93.9 million euro) and created 36 additional direct jobs within the company, Wizz Air said in a press release.
The new flights from Sofia, to Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg and to Doncaster Sheffield, will be carried out twice a week, on Monday and Friday, Wizz Air added.
In 2017, Wizz Air will have eight aircraft based in Bulgaria, seven in Sofia and one in Varna, operating 43 routes.
Earlier this month, Wizz Air announced it will open its second base in Bulgaria, in the coastal city of Varna, on July 27.
In the past 12 months ended November 30, Wizz Air carried over 1.7 million passengers to and from its three Bulgarian airports - Sofia, Varna and Bourgas.
