May 15 (SeeNews) - Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air said on Friday that it has postponed the reopening of its base in Romania's Timisoara to May 29 and has extended the suspension of flights to and from nine western European countries.
Wizz Air decided to delay the reopening of the base in Timisoara following Romanian authorities' decision to extend a ban on certain flights during the 30-days state of alert enforced on May 15, Wizz Air said in a press release.
On April 29, Wizz Air announced that it plans to reopen the base in Timisoara on May 1, if Romanian authorities lift flight restrictions.
Wizz Air has suspended until May 28 all flights from Romania to Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Great Britain and Spain.
The company's flights to the respective countries have been suspended since March 24, due to restrictions imposed by Romanian authorities in an effort to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease.
