July 26 (SeeNews) - Vodafone Romania recorded a 0.2% annual increase in service revenue to 159 million euro ($177.1 million) in the three months ended June 30, representing the first quarter of fiscal 2019/20, it said on Friday.
The operator's mobile customer base went up by 1.3% on the year to 9.024 million at the end of June, according to data from Vodafone's interim financial report.
Vodafone Romania’s mobile average revenue per user was 5.1 euro in the first quarter of the company's financial year 2019/20 started April 1.
At end-June, mobile postpaid customers represented 41.1% of the total mobile base.
Data usage during the quarter surged 54.1% on the year to 80,850 terabytes (TB).
Vodafone has launched 5G in five European markets, including Romania, since June.
On July 18, the European Commission conditionally approved the acquisition by Vodafone of the cable business of international TV and broadband company Liberty Global in the Czech republic, Germany, Hungary and Romania. Vodafone expects to close the transaction on July 31. The acquisition targets expected cost and capex savings of 535 million euro by the fifth full year post-completion, the UK-based group said.
