May 16 (SeeNews) - British wireless operator Vodafone said on Tuesday the service revenue of its Romanian unit increased by an annual 2.7% on an organic basis in fiscal year 2016/2017.
Vodafone Romania’s service revenue reached 707.2 million euro ($781 million), Vodafone said in its financial report for the fiscal year started April 1, 2016.
The Romanian operator's mobile data usage increased by an annual 100.4% in fiscal year 2016/2017.
Vodafone Romania had 9.44 million customers at end-March, of which 8.74 million were mobile customers.
Smartphone penetration in the mobile base increased by 3.7 percentage points in the fiscal year under review, compared to the previous year.
At end-March, mobile postpaid customers represented 41%, and prepaid customers 59% of the total mobile base. Mobile prepaid base as a percentage of total mobile base increased by 0.2 percentage points as compared to last year.
Average revenue per user (ARPU) reached 6.1 euro per month.
Vodafone Romania is a subsidiary of Vodafone Group. The group has mobile operations in 26 countries, partners with mobile networks in 48 more, and has fixed broadband operations in 17 markets.
At the end of December, Vodafone group had 470 million users of mobile services and 14.3 million fixed broadband service users.
