February 5 (SeeNews) - The Romanian unit of British telecommunications group Vodafone said on Wednesday that its revenue rose by 2% on the year in the quarter ended December 31, 2019.
Following the acquisition of UPC Romania at end-July, results for the quarter also included figures of UPC Romania, Vodafone Romania said in a press release.
The company did not give a figure for its revenue in the third quarter of its 2019/2020 financial year. Vodafone Romania posted revenues of 180.2 million euro ($198.5 million) in the third quarter of financial year 2018/2019, it said earlier.
Vodafone Romania customer base reached 11 million at the end of December, compared to 9.9 million a year earlier.
Mobile average revenue per user was 5.1 euro in the third quarter of the company's financial year 2019/2020.
"During the last quarter we continued to invest in our networks and launched new and improved offers of fixed and TV services for all our customers. They can now enjoy, as a result of our commitment to provide innovative technologies such as 4K, a complete portfolio of sports competitions within the UPC and Vodafone TV packages. We will continue the integration process, and soon as we will complete the merger of the two companies, a step that will allow us to further consolidate mobile and fixed capabilities," Vodafone Romania CEO Murielle Lorilloux said.
Vodafone Romania is a subsidiary of Vodafone Group.
The group has mobile operations in 24 countries, partners with mobile networks in 42 more, and has fixed broadband operations in 19 markets.
In July, the European Commission conditionally approved the acquisition by Vodafone of the cable business of international TV and broadband company Liberty Global in the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary and Romania.
