February 20 (SeeNews) - The Romanian unit of British wireless carrier Vodafone said it has signed an agreement for the acquisition of Evotracking, an Internet of Things (IoT) Romanian company which owns the EVOGPS brand.
The completion of the procurement process is subject to the fulfilment of certain normal conditions in the case of such transactions, Vodafone Romania said on Monday. It did not disclose the value of the transaction.

"This is the first full acquisition Vodafone Romania makes on the local market which reflects the quality of Evotracking business. The transaction strengthens our leadership in providing IoT solutions to the Romanian market and will allow us to offer our customers a wider range of technologies and services," Vodafone Romania CEO Murielle Lorilloux said.
Founded in 2009, Evotracking specialises in deploying advanced telematics solutions, being one of the most important players on the local fleet management market. The company's portfolio includes over 40 fleet management products that allow real-time tracking and tracking of vehicles, fuel consumption control, driver behaviour analysis, and other telematics solutions for companies in any industry and of any size.
Vodafone Romania has since 2003 provided IoT solutions for companies in various industries such as retail, auto, logistics and utilities.
Vodafone is a global leader in Internet of Things, with over 63.9 million IoT SIMs and with the largest 4G roaming coverage for IoT services in the world, including 109 countries. In Romania, Vodafone is the first telecom operator to successfully test a solution based on NB-IoT technology for the oil and gas industry in November 2017.
Vodafone Romania's service revenue rose by 2.2% year-on-year on an organic basis in the three months through December, reaching 182.3 million euro ($226 million).
The operator's mobile customer base increased by 5.2% on the year to 9.94 million at the end of December, as about 9.22 million were mobile customers.
Vodafone Romania is a subsidiary of Vodafone Group.
The group has mobile operations in 26 countries, partners with mobile networks in 49 more, and has fixed broadband operations in 17 markets.
