July 21 (SeeNews) - The Romanian unit of British wireless carrier Vodafone said on Friday its service revenue rose by 2.9% year-on-year, on an organic basis, to 178.6 million euro ($205.4 million) in the three months to end-June.
The operator's mobile customer base increased by 420,241 on the year to 9.58 million at the end of June, as about 8.87 million were mobile customers, Vodafone Romania said in a press release.
Vodafone Romania’s mobile average revenue per user was 6.1 euro in the first quarter of the financial year 2017/2018 started April 1.
At end-June, mobile postpaid customers represented 41% and prepaid customers 59% of the total mobile base. Mobile prepaid base as a percentage of total mobile base increased by 0.3 percentage points as compared to the previous quarter.
Data usage for the quarter doubled on the year.
Vodafone Romania service revenue increased by an annual 2.7% on an organic basis in fiscal year 2016/2017 to 707.2 million euro.
Vodafone Romania is a subsidiary of Vodafone Group.
The group has mobile operations in 26 countries, partners with mobile networks in 49 more, and has fixed broadband operations in 17 markets. As of June 30, 2016, Vodafone had 523.5 million mobile customers and 18.5 million fixed broadband customers.
