January 23 (SeeNews) - VMware Bulgaria, part of US-based cloud computing company VMware, said on Tuesday it plans to sign a lease deal for offices for more than 1,500 people in Sofia's residential and business complex Garitage Park, which is currently under construction.
VMware Bulgaria will rent more than 20,000 sq m of office space in two of the buildings in the complex, the company said in a statement.
According to real estate advisor Colliers International Group, a strategic consultant of VMware, the office space deal would be the largest deal on the Bulgarian market in the last 10 years.
"We have even more ambitious plans in the future, and we look forward to the next decade. Garitage Park has managed to get closer to our key requirements of modern technologies and excellent working conditions for our employees," Diana Stefanova, managing director of VMware Development Centres in Bulgaria and EMEA, said in the statement.
The company's new offices are expected to be completed in 2019.
VMware Bulgaria is the company's innovative hub in the Europe, the Middle East and Africa region and a strategic development and innovation centre worldwide, the company added.
Garitage Park complex covers a total of 165,000 sq m. The project will be developed in several phases and will include 95,000 sq m of office space, 60,000 sq m residential space, 90,000 sq m of parks, playgrounds and pedestrian areas, primary school, sport centre and commercial spaces.
