May 18 (SeeNews) - Austria's Vienna Insurance Group (VIG) said its pre-tax profit from operations in Croatia rose to 3.1 million euro ($3.3 million) in the first quarter, compared with a pre-tax profit of 2.9 million euro in the like period a year earlier.
Total gross written premiums of VIG's Croatian unit dipped 0.6% to 47.8 million euro in the three months through March, VIG said in an interim financial statement on Tuesday.
Premiums from regular life insurance declined to 6.2 million euro from 6.5 million euro, while premiums from single life insurance dropped to 12.8 million euro from 17.5 million euro.
Premiums from health insurance reached 3.6 million euro from 2.9 million euro in the period under review.
Premiums of the motor third party liability sub-segment of insurance went up to 4.7 million euro from 4.2 million euro, premiums of the CASCO segment rose to 2.8 million euro from 2.3 million euro, and other property premiums increased by 20% to 17.8 million euro.
VIG operates around 50 insurance companies in 25 countries in Europe, including Romania, Serbia, Moldova, Bulgaria, Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Croatia.
