ZAGREB (Croatia), August 27 (SeeNews) – Austria's Vienna Insurance Group (VIG) said on Tuesday its first-half pre-tax profit from operations in Croatia increased 22.4% year-on-year to 4.7 million euro ($5.2 million).
Total gross written premiums of VIG's Croatian unit, Wiener Osiguranje, grew by an annual 3.1% to 66.2 million euro in January-June, VIG said in a presentation of its first-half results.
Casco premiums rose 4.9% on the year to 2.8 million euro, whereas other property insurance premiums jumped 17.3% to 17.8 million euro.
The premiums of the motor third party liability sub-segment fell 1.5% to 6.0 million euro.
VIG's premiums from regular life insurance on the Croatian market dropped 5.1% to 14 million euro, while single life insurance recorded a 1.8% decrease in premiums to 23.9 million euro.
Health insurance saw a rise in premiums to 1.7 million euro, from 1.2 million euro in the first half of last year.
VIG, headquartered in Vienna, operates around 50 insurance companies in 25 countries in Europe, including Romania, Serbia, Moldova, Bulgaria, Albania, North Macedonia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
