TIRANA (Albania), March 21 (SeeNews) – The Vienna Insurance Group (VIG) said on Thursday its profit before taxes from operations in North Macedonia decreased by 8.9% to 2.6 million euro ($3 million) in 2018.
VIG's total gross written premiums in North Macedonia rose to 26.3 million euro last year from 24.9 million euro in 2017, the company said in its 2018 financial report citing preliminary figures.
Gross motor third party liability premiums rose to 12.3 million euro in the review period from 11.4 million euro the year before, while other property premiums increased by 4.1% to 12.2 million euro.
Gross premiums on the casco segment edged up 0.3% on the year to 1.8 million euro.
The Austrian group has been active in North Macedonia through insurers Winner and Winner Life since 2007. In August 2013, VIG completed the acquisition of Osiguravanje Makedonija, formerly QBE Makedonija.
