March 22 (SeeNews) - The Vienna Insurance Group (VIG) said on Thursday its pre-tax profit from operations in Bulgaria rose to 6.9 million euro ($8.5 million) in 2017, from 5.4 million euro in 2016.
VIG's total gross written premiums in Bulgaria grew to 150.1 million euro in 2017, from 136.7 million euro in 2016, the group said in its 2017 preliminary unaudited results posted on the corporate website.
Premiums generated from motor third party liability (MTPL) insurance in Bulgaria increased to 21.2 million euro in 2017. Casco premiums grew to 47.1 million euro last year, from 40.2 million euro in 2016.
VIG's premiums in the life insurance segment in Bulgaria increased to 25.3 million euro in 2017, from 21.3 million euro in the previous year. Health insurance premiums amounted to 11.3 million euro, as compared to 9.0 million euro in 2016.
VIG is active on the Bulgarian insurance market through Bulstrad and Bulstrad Life.
