March 15 (SeeNews) - Austria's Vienna Insurance Group (VIG) said on Wednesday it made a pre-tax loss of 11.1 million euro ($11.9 million) in North Macedonia in 2022, after recording a pre-tax profit of 6.1 million euro the previous year.
VIG's result in North Macedonia in 2022 was impacted by a goodwill impairment of negative 26.2 million euro, VIG said in an annual financial statement.
VIG's total gross written premiums (GWP) in North Macedonia rose 12.3% on the year to 31.4 million euro in 2022.
The premiums of the motor third party liability sub-segment increased by an annual 8.8% to 15.3 million euro in the year under review. Casco premiums grew 21.7% to 2.2 million euro, whereas other property insurance premiums increased 7.5% to 12.8 million euro.
Health insurance premiums rose to 1.1 million euro in 2022, from just 200,000 euro a year earlier.
Elsewhere in Southeast Europe, VIG operates in Romania, Serbia, Moldova, Bulgaria, Albania, Kosovo, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
