May 15 (SeeNews) - Vectrus Systems Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of U.S.-based Vectrus, Inc., said on Friday that it has been awarded a new $45 million (41.6 million euro) fixed-price contract to provide base operations support services at Naval Support Facility Deveselu, Romania.
The contract extends through May 2028 and further expands Vectrus' footprint in Eastern Europe, Vectrus said in a press release.
"We are proud to have been selected by the U.S. Navy as the converged infrastructure provider of choice to support this strategically important facility," Vectrus president and CEO Chuck Prow said. "Deveselu is the first Aegis Ashore Missile Defense Facility that was placed into operation and provides critical support to NATO's overall ballistic missile defense system."
Under the contract, Vectrus will provide various base operations support services, including fire and emergency services, emergency management, materials management, supply services, facility management, facility investment, custodial, utility management, electrical, wastewater, water, transportation services, and environmental services.
Romania which joined NATO in 2004, hosts the Aegis Ashore NATO ballistic missile defence base at Deveselu since May 2016.
The country plans to spend 9.8 billion euro until 2026 to boost its defence capabilities, it announced in 2017.
