January 27 (SeeNews) - Telecommunications company Telenor Bulgaria, part of Dutch-registered PPF Group, said on Thursday that it will change its name to Yettel Bulgaria as of March 1.
The change is a part of the wider rebranding initiative in Bulgaria, Hungary and Serbia where the PPF’s Telenor-branded businesses operate, the company said in a press release.
Telenor starts the transition to the new brand on January 27 with the aim to complete it at all touchpoints by the end of March. The brand change will be seamless for the customers, and no action is required, it added.
The strategic focus of the Telenor units in both countries will stay the same, the companies' chief executive officers said.
"We have an exciting line-up of products and services scheduled for 2022 while our strategic focus remains the same: growing and developing the Bulgarian market and employing next-generation technology to the benefit of our customers to drive a positive change in business and society," Jason King, CEO of Telenor Bulgaria, said in the press release.
"During 2022, we will launch new products and services, while our strategic focus remains unchanged," Serbian web portal N1 quoted the CEO of Telenor Serbia, Mike Michel, as saying.
According to the latest quarterly report by Serbia's telecommunications regulator, Telenor accounts for 32.15% of the overall number of subscribers in the country.
Telenor Bulgaria offers digital services, mobile technologies, and entertainment solutions to over 3 million customers. Last year, Bulgaria's communications regulator awarded the company a 20-year 5G frequency licence for a 3500-3600 MHz band for a proposed price of 4.1 million levs ($2.3 million/2.1 million euro).
