July 23 (SeeNews) - Slovenia's biggest telecommunications operator Telekom Slovenije [LJE:TLSG] said its first-half consolidated net profit fell 40% on the year to 14.5 million euro ($17.0 million).
The group's consolidated earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) dropped 6% on the year to 100.9 million euro in January-June, while net sales revenue edged down 2% to 360.0 million euro, Telekom Slovenije said in a filing with the Ljubljana bourse on Friday.
The telco's operating revenue also decreased 2% on the year to 363.0 million euro.
Telekom Slovenije noted that due to EU regulations, the group is faced with higher operating costs and lower revenues on the mobile segment of the end-user market.
In the review period, the number of Telekom Slovenije's mobile users dropped 2% on the year to 1,769,597, while the number of users of fixed voice telephony services remained unchanged at 556,998.
The Telekom Slovenije Group had earmarked 48.5 million euro for investments during the first six months of this year, primarily for the modernisation, enhancement and development of broadband fibre optic networks and the mobile network.
The Telekom Slovenije group employed 3,634 as at June 30, down 1% compared to last year.
