LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), November 21 (SeeNews) – Slovenian pharmaceuticals producer Krka [LJE:KRKG] said on Thursday its consolidated net profit rose 42% year-on-year in the first nine months of 2019, reaching 171.9 million euro ($190.3 million).
Krka's consolidated sales increased 12% on the year to 1.1 billion euro in the nine months through September, the company said in a filing with the Ljubljana Stock Exchange.
Consolidated revenue increased to 1.09 billion euro in the review period, from 971.6 million euro in January-September 2018.
Krka's consolidated EBITDA amounted to 274.2 million euro at the end of September, up 11% year-on-year.
The group's largest sales region was Eastern Europe, with a 31.2% share in total sales. The sales there reached 339.7 million euro in January-September, up 18%.
Russia remained Krka’s largest individual market. Product sales there amounted to 218.2 million euro, up 15% over the same period last year.
Krka's second largest region was Central Europe. Sales in that region totalled 252.0 million euro, accounting for a 23.2% share of the Krka Group sales, up 5% compared to the same period last year. In Poland, the largest market in the region, Krka sold 119.2 million euro worth of products, up 6% year-on-year.
Sales in Western Europe expanded 17% to 243.1 million euro, or 22.4% of total group sales. Sales figures were the highest in Germany, the Scandinavian countries, and Spain.
In South-East Europe, product sales rose 11% on the year to 145.6 million euro, constituting 13.4% of Krka Group total sales. Key markets Romania and Croatia contributed most to sales total.
In Slovenia, sales grew by 4% to 69.9 million euro, constituting a 6.4% share of total sales.
Product sales on Overseas Markets amounted to 37.3 million euro (up 14%), accounting for 3.4% of total group sales.
The Krka Group allocated 81.1 million euro to investments in the first nine months, of which 66.3 million euro to the controlling company.
The group employed 11,481 people at the end of September, up from 11,390 at the end of 2018.
Krka's shares traded 1.74% higher at 70.0 euro as of 12:42 pm CET on the Ljubljana Stock Exchange on Thursday.
