March 16 (SeeNews) - The Romanian authorities on Monday declared a 30-day state of emergency in order to be able to tackle the coronavirus disease outbreak more efficiently.
The decree issued by president Klaus Iohannis and signed by prime minister Ludovic Orban was published in the Official Gazette, thus entering into force.
Romania has confirmed 158 coronavirus cases as of Monday, according to data from the National Institute of Public Health, INSP.
As of Monday, 3,078 people were in quarantine in Romania, while the condition of 14,845 people staying at home was being monitored.
