January 17 (SeeNews) - Montenegro's consumer price index (CPI) fell by 0.2% year-on-year in 2016 after rising by 1.5% in 2015, the national statistical office, Monstat, said on Tuesday.
In the month of December, the CPI rose by 0.9% year-on-year after increasing by 0.4% in November, Monstat said in a statement.
Consumer prices grew by 0.2% month-on-month in December after remaining unchanged in November.
The biggest rise in prices in 2016, of 3.0%, was recorded in the clothing and footwear segment. Alcoholic beverages and tobacco prices rose by 2.8% and prices of hotels and restaurants increased by 2.4%.
On the other hand, transport prices declined by 4.7% year-on-year in 2016 and food and non-alcoholic beverage prices fell by 0.7%.
In December, the prices of healthcare services rose the most on a monthly comparison basis, up 1.7%, followed by a 0.7% increase in transport costs.
The prices of clothing and footwear went down by 1.2% month-on-month in December and hotels and restaurants costs declined by 0.4%.
