September 28 (SeeNews) - Macedonia's economy grew in the second quarter of 2007 by a nominal 4.7% on the year, faster than the 2.8% annual growth it posted in the second quarter of 2006, the state Statistics Office said on Friday.
Macedonia's gross domestic product (GDP) grew by a revised annual 7.0% in nominal terms in the first quarter of this year.
The country's gross domestic product for the second quarter of the current year totalled 60.898 billion denars ($1.403 billion/990.5 million euro), driven by a rise in the output of the transport, wholesale and retail sectors, the statistics office said in a statement.
Macedonia's economic growth slowed to a revised nominal 3.1% last year from 5.2% in 2005. The government has projected a GDP growth of 4.5% for 2007.
