December 6 (SeeNews) - (adds statement from the Croatian company Dalekovod)
Croatian power transmission equipment manufacturer Dalekovod [ZSE:DLKV] said on Tuesday it has completed the construction of a 80.5 km power transmission line, commissioned by the Slovenian power grid operator Eles, to connect the Slovenian and the Hungarian power distribution systems.
It is the bigger of two power transmission lines, whose construction Dalekovod and Eles agreed under deals worth almost 450 million kuna ($62.5million/59.5 million euro) in June 2020, and was officially opened on December 2, Dalekovod said in a statement.
The construction of the 2 x 400 kV Cirkovce-Pince power line was carried out together with Croatia and involved a joint investment of 160 million euro ($168 million), including 48 million euro provided by the EU under the Connecting Europe Facility, Eles said in a statement last week.
The line is part of the already built transmission line between Hungary and Croatia and is connected to the Heviz substation in Hungary and the Zerjavinec substation in Croatia.
The construction of the transmission line took 23 months, from August 1, 2020, to June 30, 2022, when the physical connection between the Hungarian and Slovenian power systems was established for the first time, Eles added.
"We must realise that the strength of the EU lies in the solidarity between the member states, and in the name of solidarity we must act in this direction in the future as well," Slovenian prime minister Robert Golob said at the official ceremony for the launch of the line.
With the completion of the project, Slovenia has interconnected its power distribution system to all neighbouring countries.
Dalekovod's shares last traded on November 28 on the Zagreb bourse, ending 1.16% lower at 17 kuna.
