January 16 (SeeNews) - Croatia's average annual inflation was 1.1% in 2017, data from the country's statistical office showed on Tuesday.
Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which have the biggest weight of 27.64% in the consumer basket, climbed 2.9% on the year in 2017, while housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels prices, with a 16.58% weight, declined 2.7%, the statistical office said, citing estimated data.
Prices in the transport segment, which have a 12.48% weight, recorded average annual inflation of 3.2% last year, while prices of miscellaneous goods and services, with a 7.56% weight, edged up 0.3%.
Prices of clothing and footwear, with a 6.38% weight, and of recreation and culture, with a 6.03% weight, gained 0.8% on average each last year.
The Croatian Bureau of Statistics provided no comparative data, but according to information released earlier, Croatia ended 2016 with deflation of 1.1%.
Croatia's annual inflation slowed to 1.2% in December, from 1.4% in November.
Month-on-month, Croatia's consumer price index (CPI) edged down 0.3% in December, after remaining unchanged in November.
Food and non-alcoholic beverage prices rose 2.2% year-on-year in December, following a growth of 2.8% in November.
Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels prices dropped 1.0% year-on-year in December, after a 0.7% decline in November, while the transport segment recorded annual inflation of 2.1%, down from 2.8%.
