October 18 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's consumer prices rose by 4.8% on the year in September, following a 3.7% annual increase in August, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said on Monday.
On a monthly comparison basis, consumer prices added 0.4% in September, after rising by 0.8% in August, NSI said in a monthly inflation report.
The highest annual price rise, of 16.1%, was registered in the transport sector, which has the third-highest weight in the consumer basket.
Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which have the largest weight in the consumer basket, went up 4.4% on the year in September. The sub-index tracking the other major category - housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, increased by 5.9% year-on-year.
Bulgaria’s EU-harmonised consumer price index (HICP) rose by 4% on an annual comparison basis in September and was 0.2% higher compared to its August level.
