June 13 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's annual consumer price inflation accelerated to 2.6% in May from 2.0% in April, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said on Wednesday.
On a monthly comparison basis, consumer prices added 0.3% in May, after rising by 0.4% in April, NSI said in its monthly inflation report.
Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which have the largest weight of 31.3% in the consumer basket, added 2.1% year-on-year in April, while transport prices (8.7% weight) rose 4.2%.
Prices of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (18.22% weight) increased 4.0% on the year.
Bulgaria’s EU-harmonised consumer price index (HICP) rose 2.3% on the year in May and was 0.4% higher compared to April.
