November 14 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's annual consumer price inflation accelerated to 2.5% in October, from 2.1% in the previous month, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said on Friday.
On a monthly comparison basis, consumer prices increased by 0.6% in October, after edging up by 0.2% in September, NSI said in a statement.
Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which have the largest weight of 31.82% in the consumer basket, rose 4.2% year-on-year in October, while prices of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (17.65% weight) increased 4.7%.
Prices in the transport segment (8.55% weight) added 1.9% year-on-year in October.

Bulgaria's EU-harmonised consumer price index (HICP) rose 1.5% on the year in October and edged up by 0.1% compared to September, NSI said.
