June 1 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's utilities regulator said on Thursday it approved an earlier request by public supplier Bulgargaz for a 15.2% monthly decrease in the wholesale natural gas price applicable for June, to 65.82 levs ($36.20/33.65 euro) per MWh.
In the pricing decision, the regulator analysed all data submitted by Bulgargaz, including the values of the price-forming components on European spot markets up until May 31, the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) said in a statement.
The price of natural gas valid for May stood at 77.55 levs per MWh.
Bulgaria will continue to receive the full contracted volumes of natural gas from Azerbaijan via the Greece-Bulgaria interconnector. These volumes will cover 70.3% of the monthly consumption in June, the regulator added.
For the current month, Bulgargaz has also signed a contract with one regional trader for the delivery of liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Bulgaria's underground gas storage site at Chiren is currently 85% full, likely to reach 95%, which creates confidence that Bulgaria will meet the heating season without surprises, EWRC chairman Ivan Ivanov said earlier this week.
