SARAJEVO (Bosnia and Herzegovina), March 16 (SeeNews) – Bosnian state-controlled power utility Elektroprivreda BiH [SAJ:JPESR] said on Wednesday its net profit edged up to 3.6 million marka ($2 million/1.8 million euro) in 2015 from 3.2 million marka a year earlier.
Operating revenue rose 0.2% to 954.5 million marka in 2015 while operating costs increased to 940.8 million marka from 940.7 million marka, the company said in a filing with the Sarajevo Stock Exchange.
Elektroprivreda BiH produced a total of 6.85 million MWh of electricity in 2015, down 6.55% from last year, a company spokesperson told SeeNews via email on Wednesday.
The company's two thermal power plants (TPPs) and hydro power plant (HPP) Neretva all recorded a significant drop in production compared to 2014.
TPP Tuzla produced 4.96% less electricity through December, or 3.49 million MWh, the spokesperson said.
TPP Kakanj produced 1.93 million MWh, down by 9.05%, and the utility's sole HPP Neretva produced 1.44 million MWh of electricity versus 1.54 million MWh a year earlier.

In December, the power utility said it plans to add 1,314 MW to its production capacity by 2023 by investing 4.8 billion marka in the construction of power generation facilities. The biggest portion of new electricity generation capacity, or 1,050 MW, is seen coming from TPP construction projects, including those for the construction of Unit 7 at TPP Tuzla and Unit 8 at TPP Kakanj.
EPBiH operates in the Muslim-Croat Federation, one of the two autonomous entities making up Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other one is the Serb Republic. It is the biggest of Bosnia’s three power utilities.
