September 19 (SeeNews) - Albania's sales index, which covers sales in the industrial sector and the services, rose by 16.2% in the second quarter as compared to a quarter earlier, official data released by the National Statistics Institute (INSTAT) showed on Wednesday
The index was 20.1% higher on the year.
"Sales in all sectors of the economy rose over the quarter. The trade, hotel and restaurant industry accounted for some 54% of the total increase," INSTAT said in a statement.
The sales index in the trade, hotel and restaurant sector went up by 20.6% on the quarter.
"The highest rise in sales over the first half was recorded in May when the index was 14.8% higher than the month's average," INSTAT said but gave no half-year average figures.
