ZAGREB (Croatia), April 10 (SeeNews) – Austrian insurance group UNIQA said its Croatian unit recorded a pre-tax profit of 6.1 million euro ($6.9 million) in 2018, up from 5.1 million euro a year earlier.
Total gross written premiums from operations in Croatia rose 4.7% to 77.8 million euro last year, UNIQA said in its 2018 financial report released on Wednesday.
Gross written premiums in the non-life insurance segment in Croatia totalled 43.6 million euro, up 7.6%. Gross written premiums from life-insurance grew 1.5% to 27.2 million euro, and those in the health segment edged down 0.2% to 7 million euro.
In Southeast Europe, UNIQA also operates in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia.
Its premiums written in the region - excluding Romania - rose to 307 million euro in 2018, up 8.3% compared to a year earlier.
