SOFIA (Bulgaria), March 1 (SeeNews) – Austrian insurance group UNIQA said its pre-tax profit from operations in Bulgaria rose to 1.4 million euro ($1.7 million) in 2017, from 800,000 euro in 2016.
Premium income from operations in Bulgaria, including the savings portion of premiums from unit- and index-linked life insurance, rose to 48.9 million euro in 2017 from 43.5 million euro in 2016, UNIQA said in its 2017 preliminary results presentation.
Gross written premiums from operations in Bulgaria rose 11.9% on the year to 64.4 million euro in 2017.
UNIQA's gross written premiums in the non-life insurance segment in Bulgaria totalled 28.2 million euro for 2017, up 1.2% year-on-year. Gross written premiums from life insurance operations fell by an annual 1.1% to 29.4 million euro.
In Southeast Europe, UNIQA operates in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia and Croatia. The group's pre-tax profit in the region - excluding Romania - rose to 13.9 million euro in 2017 from 3.6 million euro pre-tax loss in 2016.
